A masterfully written French police thriller, this film is elevated by powerhouse performances from Daniel Auteuil and Gérard Depardieu. It serves as a stark examination of political ambition, demonstrating how the relentless pursuit of power can corrupt and escalate, often driven by the very circumstances meant to prevent it.
